Am I the only one who wonders why: The government is so anxious to intervene in the private life of an average citizen, issuing parameters for what goes on behind closed doors to what one can or cannot do with one’s own body; why then aren’t they trying to put a cap on the outrageous profits being amassed by the oil companies to the detriment of every single soul in this country?
And when I’m driving behind some of these large trucks, they often hide my view of the traffic light ,so that I may not know whether the light is changing or has changed until I’m right on top of the intersection. At the least, this is annoying; at worst, it is dangerous. Isn’t there a way to place these lights so that drivers have an unimpeded view of them?
Here are a few things which you should already know, but may not—
- If you think there is an 800 (toll-free) number for a call you are about to make, you can find out for sure by dialing 1-800-555-1212, which is toll-free directory assistance for toll-free calls.
-Certain STDs are being transmitted at growing rates and one big reason for this situation is that there is a false sense of security associated with a sexual partner’s getting a blood test for same. Unfortunately, such blood work will NOT test for - not only HIV, which most of us realize- but also Herpes, and HPV , which must be specifically requested. These 2 STDs are spreading rapidly and with a lot more ease than doctors had originally believed.
- Are you aware of the rather questionable practice utilized by many banks when it comes to bouncing your checks? Let’s say you have a balance of $100 in your checking account. On a given day, 4 checks which you have written come through. Three of them are for $25 each and the fourth is for $105. Now, you would THINK that at least three checks will clear and the large one will bounce. But to your dismay , you are charged a hefty fee for EACH of those 4 checks. That’s because the bank will sort the checks from largest to smallest , giving them the opportunity to bounce- and charge for- the greatest number of checks. If the first check doesn’t clear, none of them will regardless of how small the others are. Its unfortunately the person with the least flexible money-flow who will suffer the most since those fees are quite hefty and will only serve to put you further behind the eight ball. So it is crucial for the average Joe to be aware of the balance in his account and to not write a check if he can’t cover it.
