Whats to like about January?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Shel @ 10:24 pm

For a long time now January has been my least-favorite month of the year.
December was full of excitement, growing expectations, lovely decorations, and
generally good feelings among men, and then in a flash it is over- What an
anticlimax!!! January is here- the time of bills, a realistic look at one’s past
year/life, horrible weather in the NorthEast , and an extra-long month to boot!

Well, I try to be the eternal optimist , so I’ve come up with a few positives
for this month.  First of all, sales — SALES. This is especially attractive for
those of you who have spent the past 30 or so days buying for and thinking of
others. It is time to take the "I Love ME!" attitude and indulge - the deals are
great, the price can be very right, and the self-satisfaction is
well-deserved.
Second, you now have the opportune time to start getting
your financial records from the past year in order. There’s not much else to do,
you might be stuck indoors for a period of time ( weather-related) so get a
jump-start on tax time.
Third, as Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday approaches, it
behooves us to take a moment to reflect on the many fine Americans who have made
a positive impact on the  life we enjoy today.
And finally, in a "lighter" vein - the days are growing
longer ! So many of us probably have some type of SAD
(seasonal-affective-disorder) whether it is minimal or not. It puts a smile on
my face to look out the window at 5PM and note that there is still a touch of
daylight out there.
Oh- and did I mention the SALES?
