Yes We Can- Save the Planet!
If you are waiting for the government to do what it will take to make a positive impact on the environment, then you are dooming your grandchildren -maybe even your children- to a disastrous future.
This is something to which every individual can make a positive contribution in very simple ways. Here are 2 for starters:
The energy-efficient lightbulbs - they DO work- especially where you use low (45 -60) wattage bulbs (e.g bedroom lamps). When you first turn them on, they will seem dim- but give them a minute or two and they will come into full power.
Spend a buck and purchase a reusable grocery bag. Yes, paper bags can be recycled, but how many of them are? And now with even recycling companies being hit by the recession, we need to do more. The reusable bags hold as much if not more as the old paper &/or plastic. Once I unpack mine, I put the empty bag back into my car so it will be there whenever I stop for a few items. I am even using them for purchases other than groceries - for example when going to the drugstore.
C’mon - we can all get with this program!
I love the CFLs I installed a couple of years ago. I also save money buy cutting the use of bulbs in the bathroom from 4 to 2.
I’m still not quite on the re-usable bags thing. I’ll get there. As for re-usable, I’ve been using the same plastic grocery bag for my lunch every day for the last year. That counts for something I think!
