Last night I ran a new Equifax credit report. I got a score of 637.
Today my broker ran my credit report (for all 3 credit bureaus) and
it's showing a 616 with Equifax.
Does anyone know why this would happen? She ran the report less than
30 days ago, would that have anything to do with it, (although that
would make no sense)?
Any help would be appreciated.
The Equifax credit score you saw was most likely a consumer credit score. I
had the same thing happen. From what I understand, there are 5 different
credit scores available.
1. consumer
2. auto loan
3. mortgage
4. insurance
5. creditxpert - some company that came up with their own algorithm for
calculating credit score.
I have personally seen all of these credit score differ at the same time. I
think my scores at one time were:
1.Consumer - 620
2. Auto - 635
3. Mortgage- 609
4. Insurance - 475 ???
5. Creditexpert - 619
If you are trying to get your middle score to 620 so you can have a
conforming loan, then i suggest you make sure your revolving accounts
(credit card, store cards, etc.) are paid below 50%.
From my experience, you can make your score jump 10 points my just bringing
your revolving ratios down from 80% to 49% (and 35 points from 90% to 0%).
And don't worry about paying down your 4k credit card under 2k when you have
a $400 credit card maxed...try to pay your cards down proportionally.
