I need to replace our garbage disposal, and did some research on
ConsumerReports.com. Their number two pick was the In-Sink-Erator
555ss, but when trying to find this model in the stores, I'm told
they're no longer being made and the new model number for the
comparable unit is ADS or something like that. Hard to go by Consumer
Reports' picks when the models change so fast. Anyone know anthing
about this ADS unit?

Hmmmmm. That's what the plumbing guy at Lowe's told me. Thanks for
setting it straight.

Just confirms my opinion of Lowe's and HD's "services".

Maybe. But according to the OP, he was told "they're no longer being
made and the new model number for the
comparable unit is ADS or something like that." Sounds like an
unknowledgable employee, typical for Lowes. Or maybe s/he did know the
facts but decided to lie about it in hope of selling him what they had
in stock. I've had that experience too, back when I used to shop there.
