Solar fish are a fairly new craze for your pool. Imagine not having to
lug your solar cover on and off to keep your pool warm. It's a great
idea and it really works. Sadly very few people know about this great
technology or don't actually believe it works. But it does and here
is how.

It is a small plastic liquid filled fish and sinks to the bottom of
your pool using a weight. The liquid inside is a alcohol and wax base.
The wax is what helps the liquid float to the top of your pool. Little
bits of liquid leak out of the fish for a month rise to the top of your
pool and create a thin microscopic layer causing less water
evaporation.

That's the technical part. Here is how to make it work to the full
potential.
Buy the fish
Cut the top off the fish
Squeeze it a little until liquid starts to come out of it
Throw it in your pool and let it sink to the bottom, or you can tie it
to a ladder in case you have a pool cleaner
Once the fish is in the pool its working?

Now here are some key things you need to know
A solar fish does not heat your pool, the sun does. The Solar Fish just
helps to keep that natural heat from evaporating at night when it gets
cold, so do not or try not to run your filter at night. This breaks up
the thin liquid causing some evaporating. Over time you will notice a
significant difference in the heat of your pool.

The solar fish really comes in handy when you have a pool heater. It
allows you to use less gas pumping heat into your pool. Just bring it
up to the temperature you want and throw a fish in. It will help
maintain that temperature.

Solar Fish really do work, I suggest you try them. Heck they are
cheaper than a solar cover and a lot less work, its worth a shot.
