I will soon be receiving new kitchen cabinets and counter that I need to
install. I would appreciate any tips at all regarding preparation and
installation.
Thx.

Open phone book, open check book, pay somebody who knows what they are
doing, pay attention to what they are doing, and try DIY on your next
kitchen. No disrespect, but the fact that you need to ask indicates that you
shouldn't do it on your own this time. It ain't rocket science, but there
are little tricks that make it a lot easier, and a second person helps a lot
in placing and fastening stuff. If you simply must DIY this time, go to the
big-box or any good bookstore, and leaf through the kitchen install books.
Look for one with good pictures and diagrams- a picture is really worth a
thousand words when describing scribing, level lines, finding high spot and
shimming, etc. Don't forget a good drill (preferably one that switches
quickly from bit to screw driver), a big box of long screws (I prefer
phillips or square hole), and a bar of soap to lube the screws. Oh, and you
usually want to hang the uppers before the base cabinets go in. Makes
getting on those top rail screws a lot easier.
Man I miss living someplace where I can screw stuff to the walls....
aem sends....

soap contains water, which will rust the screws. use beeswax or paraffin
instead.

Wow, thanks for the play by play on how to pay someone else to do it.

So it's simple, but I'm clearly not sharp enough to handle it?
Oh, wait a minute.... You are going to throw some tips in after all?
