Hi,
We are thinking of getting an extended warranty upto 5 years for a
refrigerator that we bought from Lowes. Anyone with positive or negative
experience with Lowes Extended Protection Plan?
Any information is appreciated,
TIA

No specific experience, but generally, extended warranties are not a good
deal. They cost considerably more than the expected repairs would. Instead
of buying an extended warranty, keep your money and set it aside for
possible repairs. You may not "win" on every single appliance, but in the
long run, you'll win big.

Extended warranties in general are a bad idea. That's particularly
true for "white goods".

I "third the motion" from the other two guys.
The extended warranty has to be priced to make a profit. That means
that overall, the premium is way more than the overall cost of repairs
(spread over a lot of people). This is a kind of insurance, and you
only get it if you absolutely cannot afford the repairs on your own.
You have a fridge, freezer, washer, dryer, dishwasher, ad infinitum.
Add all the premiums up, and then add up all the repairs. You'll have
wasted extra money on the premiums.
If they persist, ask them "Whatsa matter? You expect it to fail?
Must be selling bad goods!"

True, with the exception of front-load washing machines, which are
worth buying extended warranties on since their transmission design is
favorable for breakage.
