Hello,

We're looking for a house and found one today that has some bad warping of
the exterior siding... Here's a pic:

http://www.blairsville.com/andersonhouse/andersonhouse%20032.html

Is this the same material that was the subject of a class action lawsuit
(http://www.masoniteclaims.com/masonite/notice.html )a few years back?

We would be looking at replacing all of it with regular vinyl siding.  Is it
common for the masonite siding to damage the underlying OSB board?  Is there
anything else we should be looking out for aside from the siding itself?

Thanks.

Its impossible to tell from the picture if there is damage to the substrate.
If I were to guess I would say its not OSB. OSB is not that old. When was
the house built?

I am assuming you are asking these questions in preparation to make an
offer.

I looked at all the pictures, I hope you don't mind.

The house is either already priced with the fixes in mind or you will need
to offer lower to cover the improvemnets. Be prepared to walk away.

My first comment, from somone who just sold their house. Why cant people
clean up before showing their houses?

Anyway - If the asking price is comparable to other similar houses that
don't have the issues then I would probably offer about $5,000 less than
asking. Figuring new siding, painting, carpets and a garage door. $5K may
not be enough but it depends on how hot the market is, what the asking price
is and how much you like the location.

Good luck.

From the pics the sellers look to have some little ones. They may be older
than our's were when we tried to sell our house (1, 2, 4) but it is almost
impossible to keep a house picture perfect 24/7 with kiddies running around.
We got tired of the calls with 30 minute warnings of a showing of our house
and pulled it off the market. It was that or sending the kids to an
orphanage, lol.

I have little kiddies too. Fortunately we made it look sooo nice, fixed the
troubled stuff and cleaned top to bottom we got a premioum price and sold in
