Hi folks,
My built in microwave suffered a broken handle and I ask the folks here how
to replace it.  I cannot figure out by my eye how to disassemble the door
enough (or at all for that matter) to get at the screws holding the handle
on.

GE Model number JVM140K04

I have found this part on line and have seen a diagram, but alas it is not
obvious enough from that for me.  Any help here would be greatly
appreciated.
Best Regards,
Tomes

I am anxious to hear replies to this. Our micro. handle broke too. Same
brand different model. Is  yours a over the oven/vent hood kind? If so, so
is ours. I went to the website and found the part for 56.00! I haven't
ordered it yet tho'.

Yep, it is indeed the over the stove venting kind.  I found the part for $30
at a website for A-1 Appliance after seeing it for $50-55 elsewhere.  Google
is a good thing.

I had tried epoxying it back together using epoxy that said that it worked
on 'all plastics'.  That  held up for about a month or so, then popped
loose.  I really thought that would do it, but alas t'was not to be.  Bad
angles on the pulling with not enough grip.  Instead of re-epoxying it every
month or 2, I figure replacement is due if only i could get to the screws.

If you find out before I do please post as well, thanks.

One or nother of these sites has a service where if you buy the part from
him, the guy will explain to you how to install the part.  Probably
something that needs to be pried off to reveal the screw heads.

There is a glue that works better on plastic than epoxy does.  It's a
pungent smelling liquid and a white powder, and the liquid bites into the
plastic.  Got it at Menards.  Don't remember what it was called.

We were going to try the epoxy idea but I think we will pass on it since it
doesn't have the holding power. Thanks for the heads up on that.
Right now we have to use a knife to pry the door open.
On our door we have one screw head visible at the top but no screw head for
the bottom. I look at the same diagram as you did and it sure doesn't make
sense. How hard would have been to just use 2  screws that are accessible so
in the event the handle broke your average homeowner could replace it?
