You really should avoid the Cypress Lodge at 2283 Latham Street if you
are looking to live in Mountain View California. I rented a studio
with a female manager in 2001, moved to one of the 2B/B a year later,
and boy I wish I moved away when they got that new manager! I lived at
that complex for about 3 years, and waited to move til I could buy
something (meanwhile, I avoided that mgr as much as could).
Bad problems of an older complex. Be prepared to hear your neighbors'
very words, bake in summer, freeze in winter, live with ants, get your
neighbors mail, hear footsteps, extensive water damage or termites,
etc. Hole from rotten wood, and they covered it with new baseboard!
The real problem is the owner and manager. Some examples are listed
below.
1. The company will charge you for EVERYTHING (even when they say they
won't) to get security deposit (this is a high turn-over place).
Charged ~$70 for a little white touch-up paint in the studio!! No
receipts when asked for them! I didn't smoke or do any damage other
than some picture hanging.
2. Forced me from my park space so mgr can park his truck there. Kept
changing the new park space # without telling me & I kept getting nasty
notes that will tow car.
3. Jeff will tell you one thing to brush you off then do about-face,
charge you, and say "sorry, not my fault." Always has an excuse, and
you end up eating the costs! He talks in circles and has very selective
memory. Unless you are ok with bullies, avoid Jeff and the building
owners!! Worst mgr I've ever had the mispleasure of dealing with.
4. Former manager would help out. Jeff however, will not be bothered
and won't do you any favors no matter how good a tenant you are or
friendly you be. Sorry, closed one minute ago! Screen calls with
answering maching. Won't sign for any packages no matter what.
