Is there anyone out there who knows something about George Washington
Smith, who created the architectural style of Santa Barbara & built the
Jackling House in California which Steve Jobs plans to tear down?

I've written a blog post about this (

) & have found a historic photograph of the home interior, but I'd love
to find other photos of what the house looked like before Jobs decided
it was an eyesore & stopped maintaining it.  Anyone know of any online
sources for such material?

The house is less than a 100 years old and doesn't look worth
preserving to me. There should be some common sense applied to
preserving old houses.

You know, Jobs has a point -- if some people really want to preserve the
house, it's perfectly fair for them to pay for it.  If enough people want
the city government to preserve it, they can vote themselves a tax
increase and condemn it for a museum.  Otherwise, it is his house.
