I want a washer and dryer that can send status information to my PC.
'Time remaining in the cycle' and 'load finished' information ( in an
email) would be good. We have the technology for this.
I saw an article about a new commercial washer that can wirelessly
notify people when their laundry is done, but I haven't seen it in
home appliances yet. Do any of you know of any companies working on
such products?

That wireless notification technology has existed for years -- it's called a
buzzer.

[paperclip appears on screen]
"It looks like you are washing a load of permanent press. Would you
like some help?"

The LG Tromm has an optional "remote" accessory that you plug into any
outlet in the house and it will tell you the time remaining for the
washer; don't know if it also talks to the dryer. It cost $149 last
time I saw one; the washer itself was $1499.

Thank you for your constructive response. The LG Remote Laundry
Monitor sounds like a step in the right direction, but I'm hoping that
they will continue to develop the device.
