I need to replace those evergreen shrub in the flower beds of front
yard. They simply grow crawling on the ground. They look very
unhealthy and grow out of shape. I hope I could find something also
evergreen, but a little modern looking type of plants. Any suggestion?
Thanks

Mugho pines are nice, and they maintain a compact shape. And mine are hardy as
hell.

Mugho pine is a fine choice indeed. Another choice low-growing
evergreen is dwarf Japanese garden juniper (J. procumbens 'Nana'), or
if you want more color and they're hardy where you are, Cotoneaster
dammeri, Nandina 'Harbor Dwarf' (may get invasive), or even prostrate
rosemary.
