I'd appreciate reviews of or referrals to online sellers of Asian
black teas. I'm currently paying upwards of $37.00/lb for grocery-store
Twinings in a dwindling selection of common varieties so, I guess,
that's an acceptable price point. Other b&m retail sources are distant
with slim pickings. Wallyworld doesn't count. My preference is loose
tea, no herbal or floral.
I spent an evening browsing independent tea-sellers’ sites (no
ebay, amazon, etc.) and found nothing to recommend any of them. For the
most part, I thought mailing rates excessive or discovered that -- in
order to get mailing rates, at all -- identifying/contact information
was "required"; that's so not cool.... Damn, ISP, IP, ZIP code and
goodness-knows what else is enough on the first date!

I have been using SpecialTeas www.specialteas.com for several years
now. They have free shipping for orders over $50. I cannot speak to
their selection of Asian teas as I do not drink them. However I am
pleased with the overall quality of the teas I buy from them (mainly
Assam blends and an occasional single estate Assam or Darjeeling), and
their customer service has been excellent.

Thanks; I'm enjoying browsing the site. It's fairly easy to reach
the free shipping threshold, isn't it? Although, the mailing charge
appears to be straightahead US Priority Mail rates.
Not to put too fine a point one it, but:

Yes, of course, you are correct :-)
When I read "Asian tea", for some reason my brain immediately
translated that as "Ceylon, Chinese, and Japanese teas".
Better go make myself another cuppa ;-)

Thanks for this! Even with shipping, I saved money on three
garden-variety China and Ceylon (Sri Lanka) black teas that definitely
are superior to what's in my local markets.
