In article

looks as though it might be helpful according to gov't researchers
<http://www.google.com/search?&q=chia+seeds+type+2+diabetes+site%3Agov> ,
but not particularly magical-- the same tired old viable advice about
diet and excercise are where the real gains are made.  Stuff like this
is in the 10% around-the-edges category.

you're probably  going to have to grind it or possibly sprout it.  I
would be rather surprised if the seeds digest very well w/o
preprocessing.  Good luck chewing them, they're small.

Diet and excercise, Body flubber index,   these are the keys, not some
"NEW DISCOVERY!!!" Unless, of course, you like taking glucophage and the
like.

The nutritional supplements charlatans will soon have an infomercial out
about the miracle of chia seeds; maybe hosted by the spackle-and-paste
guys or that earnest looking jailbird whose trying to tell us about all
the curses the fat-cat pharma-co's are trying to cover up...

There was a big study on the use of cinnamon a few years ago. Many
people in the study reduced or eliminated the need for drugs to
control sugar. I think more recently there has been some criticism of
the research, but it's worth looking at. The key was that people had
to take some amount like half teaspoon of cinnamon every day. Those
who fell short and missed days did not benefit. Many people lack the
consistency to follow through on a daily basis. A simple cinnamon
donut was not the correct dosing method.
