I'm just about to drop this "National Grange" M.C. card. The criminals
have not only charged me $39 for a late fee but a "finance Charge of
$7.66.
I believe I mailed it in time.  But I have heard they love to ding you
even if they get it on the "day" of payment due. Which how can you argue
with?  Anyway, I'm about to call them and ask some questions.
My question with the group is . Can I persuade them to drop these
charges?  I heard even "Washington" is getting after them for these
common problems.
I certainly will bring this up at the local grange.  I am seriously
considering dropping this card.  They killed the goose that laid the
"Golden Egg" as we say in the country.
Any ideas on how to deal with these greedy folks. They do not e-mail.
TIA, another irate consumer.

Be ready to deactivate the card, and ask for a final bill.
Start with a polite protest about the charges.  They might drop them.
They did the only time I tried that with a CC.  Don't remember which
one.
Then threaten to deactivate the card.  If they don't drop the charges,
do it.

Good advice. If you don't have multiple late charges, they may drop
ONE charge. They did for me ONCE.

Speaking of credit cards. My Capital One just upped my interest rate
from 6.99 to 17.99 percent. Thanks congress! But I don't care. I never
use the card and only got it for overseas purchases since it doesn't
have a foreign transaction fee. However, the minute they start
charging a foreign transaction fee, that card is GONE!

How many people here will drop their credit cards if charged an annual
fee? Or if your rate is hiked up to 20 percent? Or if the grace period
is eliminated?

I hear the usurious bastards are threatening such actions. Should that
happen I would keep only one credit card, and most likely only from a
credit union.

Not much of a choice if you need a CC. Its pretty difficult to make a
car or hotel reservation without one or for online/phone purchases.

I read a recent article that claimed people who can afford to pay off a
card balance each month are now "bad guys" because obviously they must
be wealthy. It just couldn't possibly be because someone is living
within their means?

well, I know they are addicted to these charges because they are not in
the business to be BFF.
They do make some bucks off each purchase, they charge the merchant like
2or3 %
I wrote them a letter and when I call I will use any tactic I can.
