Just got my DTV converter coupons and am search of a converter.
Who has one they like?
I'm going to try the Channel Master CM7000, but I have another coupon
to spend.
I see that there are some that perform well, but don't hold up well
from the customer reviews. The dish network TR40 is one.
How about the RCA?

If you have any analog stations in your area that will stay
running after the cut-over, you will want a feature called
analog pass-through. If you have a higher quality TV that
has composite video and RCA audio jacks, you will want a
converter that has line level outputs. If you want to get
near-HD quality video or surround sound, you will wabt to
get an ATSC tuner rather than a converter, a device that
is not covered by the coupons.

Ahh, John.
the Converters have are an ATSC Tuner. Otherwise they
would not get the digital broadcasts.

Now if I could get my new converter to reduce all the banner
crap infesting the tv screen. Our local cartoonavision news
(Fox) has the bottom 1/3 of the screen covered with animated
channel/ temp/ time/ reporter/ story tag/ studio tag/ and
more swirling color streaks. The top 1/3 has breaking news
tags and more swirling color. The other night it was
difficult figuring out where the tornado was in the
remaining thin horizontal strip between the banners. The
other local channels burn the top and bottom quarter of the
screen. Our PBS station actually has no persistent banners
except during beg weeks. I want my screen back! I want to
see the ice on the road, where the football/puck/golfball is
rolling, the hanging wall cloud, the hot air balloon
festival, the ladder truck rescue.

More misinformation. The converters only have SD type
composite video and stereo audio outputs. An ATSC tuner
has HD video out and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. That is
why the former is called a converter and not a tuner,
and why the latter is far superior device.
