Does anyone know of a site that allows you to enter criteria to narrow
down the number of cameras available?  For example, I want one with 5
megapixels (or more), comes with an AC power cord/charger, preferably
not using AA batteries (my rechargeables don't seem to last long), and
so forth.  I don't need any bells and whistles and, of course, I don't
want to spend that much.

Any information on sites for the selection, or cameras that you are
happy with are appreciated.

I do suggest buying a NiMH recharger and set of four batteries for anyone.
They are cheap now and will last you a few years.  Investing in a decent
digital camera you might as well get yourself a $15 to $20.00 recharging
NiMH battery pack at Wal-Mart or the like.  It saves alot of headaches.

Digital cameras EAT battery power cause of the LCD screens on them, esp that
many are 2.5" or larger now.

You have the wrong idea there.  You do want a camera
that uses AA batteries.  That way when you find all
your rechargeable batteries run down you can rush out
to the convenience store and get some regular ones
that will get you through until you get them rechaged.

That having been said, I just recently switched from
rechargeable AA batteries to the Energizer E2 batteries.
Since I put the E2s in I have been to 2 parades and a
fireworks display.  The battery indicator still shows
above 65% battery.

I also use the eye level display most of the time.  Not
using the LCD display can extend the life of the
batteries a whole lot.
