Which one would you prefer?  Pros and cons of each?  I have neither, but
a single female relative wants one or the other for Christmas.  Thanks.

I have had both and prefer the mattress pad.  Lower energy cost, zoned
heat so your feet get the most and your head gets the least, less
likelihood of getting burned, and heat rises so you get the benefit of
all the warmth, really, that it generates.  They even have some that
automatically turn off after 10 hours in case you forget.

That's what ours does.  It has 5 or 6 heat settings.  Easy to use.
Cost between 20 and 30 bucks.
It would be a bargain for even more, IMO.
We've had it four years and my wife recently felt the wires with her
feet, so she put a thin blanket over it and that took care of it.
I notice it takes a bit longer to feel the heat when you turn it on.
She say she should have taken it off during the non-cold months.
It's stayed there under the sheet since we got it.
Gave the same one to somebody as a gift, and she didn't use it as she
felt the wires right away.  A princess, I guess.
I think I felt *something* from the start too, but it didn't bother
me, and I forgot about it.
I like it, wife loves it.
Never used an electric blanket.  I toss and turn and might wrap myself
in the wire.  Don't know.  But that can't happen with the mattress
pad.

Neither. I live in a cold apartment and I am comfy warm in my down
comforter. I have a regular bedspread which I put on top of me first,
then the down comforter. Between the two, I am toasty warm in just a few
minutes and there's no need to give the utility company more money or
risk having electric waves scramble my brain cells.
