So I was watching this promo for a new cooking show on the food
network. Supposedly it's about this lady who can tell you how to make
frugal meals.
It was so stupid. Her big TIP OF THE DAY was: buy green peppers,
they're cheaper than red. Duh.... I had no clue. The prices in the
supermarket mean nothing to me... thank you for that wonderful frugal
cooking show or I would have been buying red peppers FOREVER!
I should have my own frugal cooking show. I can make a meal for less
than a buck.

I should hope so. I cant get into the mindset of a person that
couldnt. Anyone can make a meal for 20p, unless their brain is really
not working.

I was amazed at a news report stating that enrollment at cooking classes had
gone way up because of the economy--people were saying they couldn't afford
to eat out any more so they were taking cooking classes. Are people really
so dang dumb that they can't open a cookbook and follow the directions???
Do some people really eat all their meals out? Most cooking classes aren't
aimed at frugality either--they are usually the gourmet (as in expensive)
stuff.

Some certainly are.
There will always be some stupid enough to prefer a course to a book etc.

Yes, certainly some do.

That was true in the past. Less clear how much that has changed due to an
increased demand for the alternative.

Probably, but the directions can be difficult to understand for
some one who has never cooked. how is saute'ing different from
frying, for instance.

Or McD's, or microwave meals. I actually know some people
who eat like this. They think it's amazing that I can "cook
from scratch".
