While having a slice of humble pie with my morning
coffee, I opened my e-mail and found a brief note
from my good friend Michael Moore.
<
He sent me the brand new trailer for his latest movie,
"'Capitalism: A Love Story" in which he goes eyeball
to eyeball with the entire free-market economy.
<
<
"It's a crime story," wrote Mike. "But it's also a war story
about class warfare. And a vampire movie, with the
upper one percent feeding off the rest of us. And, of course,
it's also a love story. Only it's about an abusive relationship."
<
He told me he started shooting about six months before
the economy melted down last fall, which he considered
a lucky break.
<
"It's not about an individual, like Roger Smith, or a corporation,
or even an issue, like health care," Mike noted. "This is the big
enchilada. This is about the thing that dominates all our lives --
the economy. I made it as if it was going to be the last movie
I was allowed to make."
<
Oh, by the way, Mike said it's also "a comedy," probably
the saddest one you've ever seen.
"'Capitalism: A Love Story" Mike is premiering at the oldest
film festival in the world, the Venice International Film Festival.
Then he said he'll head to the Toronto International Film
Festival where 'Roger & Me' won the festival's People's
Choice award 20 years ago.
It is rumored that, when "Capitalism: A Love Story" opens
nationwide Oct. 2, the Stock Market and major corporations
and national banking institutions will be in Lockdown.

Boy, I can't wait until Mike starts production of his
next film, "Man as Old as Coal" and/or "Proof
of Life After Death."
