Headlines

 I'm interested in finding a source of general U.S. newspaper headlines
around the states for individual days, specifically in the summer of
1940.  Web searches turn up a few dates of interest for WWII and the
Holocaust, but little else.  Any suggestions other than resorting to
microfilm and microfiche?  I'm trying to follow a U.S. tour, so would
want headlines from papers in NYC, Washington, Savannah, N.O., Las
Vegas, Los Angles, S.F., Chicago, etc.
