How to get a retired power pole ?

 they are due to replace a power pole on the road near my house , I have
a need for one and I wonder how to get the old one. any ideas?

Call whichever utility is replacing it and ask. Locally, they'd not only
bring you an old one for $30, they'd plant it as well. That was several
years ago, though.

All it takes is a phone call to find out.

Follow the copper stealing tweaker model and just take a saw and go out
and find one you like.

On a pole related tangent, there had been a flag flying controversy.
The flag pole involved had been bought from a local restaurant that
didn't want it anymore for $10,000.  That's like half the cost of a Kia
for a 40' metal pole.
