I just received an advertisement in the mail from Alberstons saying "No
Card Needed. Same Great Deals." The flyer features a logo saying "no
card. no hassle."
I refuse to shop at supermarkets that use spy cards. Albertsons, Safeway,
and later QFC, lost my business when they started using spy cards. I knew
that there would be a backlash sooner or later. Other supermarkets will
probably be following suit soon.
'High five' to other consumers like myself who stopped patronizing
supermarkets that required a spy card for sale prices.

No Albertson's in my area any more - Walmart Supercenters drove them
out of business around here.
I do have a Randall's card; when I filled out the "application" I
provided incorrect information: bogus name, bogus address (it isn't an
empty lot any more but it was when I got my card), taxi company's
phone number, and no email address. I don't use the Randall's card
very often and when I do I pay cash.

However, when it comes time to push one of the two peanut butter brands with
equal marketshare off the shelf, they'll still know through these cards that
(1) Brand A is *your* chosen brand.
and
(2) *You* are a low revenue customer (or at least, your infrequent use of
the card makes you look like one.)
So guess which brand gets killed.
The more infrequently you shop at a place, the less you want one of these
cards - bogus info or not.

Not true. You just get 3-5 cards and randomly use a different one each
time.

Or just make up a name and phone number for the card.
