It's really bad of late in most groups. Normal activity seems to be
waning as people give up filtering past all the grief. I don't use a
news reader so I do it manually. That's not a problem as much as the
lack of regular posts. The losers drop those all-caps posts and are
gone to change their name for next time. Even if you replied to them,
there would be no answer. Those are just ads anyway. They never get
any business from me.  Purchases of online Chinese products direct is
nothing but trouble. I have searched online and bought stuff and it's
garbage. They have so many ways of fudging the product. For example, I
bought a laptop power supply last year. It looked great and the price
was wonderful. I plugged it in and it worked fine until I went to use
the modem. The electronic noise on the line was too great to allow a
connection. It was too much work to fix so I chalked it up to my
education. I'm not against Chinese products by any means, but I need
that filter of an American source to deal with. These are amateurs
posting ads here and fraudulent ones at that.

A good news server admin can filter the trolls and spammers at the server.
Some are more agressive than others.

Unfortunatly the drop off in participation in these groups can
be traced to the Coumo masacre of last year.  Many of the larger
ISPs dropped support for NNTP, and most users fled to Yahoo or
Google groups.
