Storage is big business. I used to manage a few facilities for a
wealthy guy. And sometimes people would store utter and complete
rubbish. This elderly lady rented a unit in 1979, and her family just
paid the bill every month and never came to the facility, not wanting to
be bothered with taking the stuff out. She died in 2003, and her son
came to empty it. All that was in the unit was a particle board desk
with like 5 inches of dust on it, a nasty/cheesy chair, and a box of
sheets. The unit was a 10x15 and was barely 1/50th filled. They had
paid about $20,000 in rent. The guy was screaming at me in the office
to refund half the money back to her estate. :-)
