My eight-year-old HP laptop died yesterday finally. Good riddance Win
ME! Terrible O/S.

I plan to get a netbook to replace it. I'd like to get one with XP if
possible. Anyone have one? What kind? Like it? Would you buy it again?
Probably will purchase from Tiger Direct. I've purchased two computers from
them with good service. Any suggestions for a better (cheaper) source?

TIA.

Ken

If you don't want to wait for mail-order, Wal-Mart has a good price on the
best netbook on the market.  Check out the Acer Aspire One.  We're getting
ready to buy TWO of them soon.  :)  -Dave

I like the MSI Wind I got.

I think pretty much all the netbooks come with XP rather than Vista.

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_netbooks>  provides a
comparison, including things like how many USB ports, etc.

Go for the 6-cell rather than 3-cell battery for a more reasonable
battery life.

Thanks for the useful link. Unfortunately whoever laid out the chart
didn't plan on people printing it. I fiddled around with it in my word
processor but the best I could do was dropping the last four columns. But
I think the info remaining will be useful enough.

I printed out specs and other info on the Wind from the MSI site. Thanks,
I was unaware of that product.

I print stuff because I prefer to read later when I'm away from my
computer.

And it's certainly handier for taking to the store!

Glad you found it useful.
