It kinda looks like a puffball.
If it is, it's not "ripe" yet.
When I was a kid, we would find them in the woods and toss them
up and whack them with a baseball bat.
Makes a neat puff of pollen.

Yep, as the other lister says, that's an osage orange. They are among
my fondest Halloween memories, as they fall on the ground just in time
for trick or treating. We called them monkey brains, a term that still
enjoys popularity among our nation's youth. Another link:
