Hello,
Someone gave me a plastic, non-electrical, pressure washing machine, the
kind one powers by hand by turning a crank. I wasn't given instructions
for use but I know this item will take smaller items of clothing and not
more than 5 lbs. of clothing at one time.
What are some tips for using this?
How hot can the water be (or is it designed only for warm to cold water)?
How much detergent is added to the clothes and water?
How is it used to "dry" clothes? Is it by draining it, filling with clean
water, and then leaving the lid on loosely so that spinning/tumbling it
causes water to come out of the clothes?
In the washing "cycle", how long is the crank turned?
Thanks

Well, a camping couple put their dirty clothes in a 5 gal. bucket,
added cold water & detergent and drove merrily down the road. The
bump, bump, bump of the camper gave plenty of agitation. Then hose
hook-up to rinse off.
Multi-tasking: drive to the market and wash the clothes at the same
time. It was free, try it, and if it doesn't work for you, then you
know.
Go easy on the detergent. I have a front end loading washing machine
and was advised to use only 1 to 2 tbsp. of detergent per load because
it uses far less water than a top loading machine.
Once a home economist told me essentially the same thing. Clothes get
grungy looking because the machines can't rinse out all the detergent,
and the soap eventually builds up. She said to strip the soap out by
runing a cycle with dishwashing detergent.
Detergent mfrs. want to see the products sold so I suspect they
"overdose." (Classic story is the Alka Seltzer commercial that
doubled the dosage. Used to be only one tablet. Then came the jingle
"plop, plop, fizz fizz, oh, what a relief it is."

Do yourself a favor and throw it out. I haven't heard a single
positive comment about these "washers".
