You need more than an email account...
you need a backup dialup service.
Pick up a free AOL disk at the supermarket.
Great for emergencies.
I've signed up and cancelled more than once, myaself.
AOL is still free for the first month.
Juno, BlueLight and NetZero are no longer free. ;`(

That wouldn't scare me nearly as much as someone =uploading=
illegal content, or running P2P on my wireless LAN
(I speak hypothetically, because everything in this house is hard
wired with CAT5).

SSHD using HTTP tunneling. :-)

And DMZ would have to be wired, though.
I can see the use of a WAP for laptops and iPods
(yes, iPod WiFi is right around the corner)
Don't they already offer them with Bluetooth?

actually, netzero has a 10 hour/month plan for free.
It's not well advertised though, and it fills part of your screen with
some ads.
I managed to accidently set it up on my grandmother's machine so it
doesn't have the ads, but I cannot recreate the setup. One bad thing
is that it doesn't store the connect number, though, so it has to be
selected each time.
