Maybe not. There is a camp of legal scholars who maintain that being
in the US illegally results in making the automatic citizenship for
offspring provision not applicable. Apparently there are a number of
potential legal precedents. So perhaps all it would take is someone
pursuing a case sufficiently to force a ruling by the Supreme Court.
I don't pretend to understand the law well enough to know one way or
another, but it is an interesting point.

That is another issue. Jail them and deport their kin. Deport them
when their sentences are fully served.
