Freeware is free software period. You have no authority to define anything
but for yourself. Others have to decide for themselves what they will or
won't accept.

Perhaps it would clear the air if you did the following, Susan:
Tell us specifically (not in nebulous terms) about about GIMP costs
money. Do not include the expense of download time from your ISP, the
cost of any extra memory required to run it, etc. Again, tell us
_SPECIFICALLY_ costs you/us money.

erm. . . Unclaimed Mysteries made the not Freeware comment. *I* said
The Gimp was Freeware and FOSS.

While spyware and adware are also "freeware" in the sense that you
don't pay for them, the terms "spyware" and "adware" further define
and categorize this form of "freeware" so that people can distinguish.
To me, (I'm not sure of the actual definition) "freeware" should not
attract or have ads, nor spy on the user; if it does, then "spyware"
and "adware" are better names for it.
Freeware should be 100% free for the life of it, have no limits on its
use (such as "only partially functional") and have no ads or spyware.
If it has ads or spyware, then it really isn't "free".

ACF doesn't have a definition of freeware. Pricelessware does not define
this NG.
