a little larger,

not AAA's.  They

leaving me without

So it's a tradeoff, isn't it?
You buy whatever best fits your own needs.

But it's silly to blanketly say don't buy this size battery or that
size battery. They are each well-suited for different applications.

My caller ID box, tv remote and satellite remote all use them. They
all last wee over a year, maybe closer to two.

I don't have a problem using AAA batteries but I do have concern buying
devices using proprietary batteries. For example, replacing the battery on
my 5 year old digital camera will cost more than the camera if you factor in
deprecation. Same as with proprietary batteries on MP3 players, cordless
drills, cell phones or laptops. My digital tire gauge ran out of battery but
its not end user replaceable (something about nuclear battery), have to send
it back to factory for replacement. Forget that, I'd replaced it with a good
old mechanical dial tire gauge. Seems like most things are throw away when
the batteries are too expensive to replace or the devices become obsolete in
a few short years. Trying to be a frugal consumer, be it money or ecology,
is a struggle when we are programmed, or forced in our working situation as
the case may be, to buy the latest and greatest goods.

The thing that bugs me is when products are leased without even any intent

Apple will change their ten-dollar battery...for a hundred bucks! ouch!
