I'm single and I shop at Costco. One of the best bargains they have going is
their house brand of supplements. My doctor prescribed calcium and senior
vitamins for me and the price retail drugstores charge for those supplements
is outrageous. My doc told me Costco's house brand is just as good and much,
much cheaper.
There are other bargains there as well, you just have to find them. Youd do
the same thing when you shop at retail grocery stores: buy the best deals.

What about items like paper towels, toilet paper, plastic storage bags, you
know, the non-perishables? That's where I save when I shop there.

My wife and I joined - no kids - and it was not at all worth it.
The only thing that made it worth it to us was that we bought one
big-ticket item there - a mattress - that was worth the price.
So, yes, it can be worth the price if you buy one or more big ticket
items when they run a good sale on them.
But for just general shopping, it isn't worth it.
Then, there are those lines....
and the hassle trying to get help with anything...
Overall:
Not worth it.

i don't really want to spend the time. costco saves me time as
well as money. i'm not into buying stuff there that's not
cheaper there. also, i live in a relatively isolated area, and
even though we're getting a walfart i won't be shopping there.
