Hi everyone,
Growing up we always recycled our aluminum cans, and it was a treat for
the family to take that money each month or so and get something fun
for the family. Over the years I've gotten out of the habit of
recycling, and just over the last few months have started collecting my
cans again. My wife and I don't drink much that comes in a can, the
occasional soda, but at work I seem to always have an open Diet Dr
Pepper, which I take home and put in the collection.
Now I've got a few bags of cans ready to take, something I never
thought about until now is where to take them... The place we used to
use as a kid is no longer there, so I'm not sure who to call to see
locally or even what the going rate is for recycled aluminum. 15-20
years ago I remember it being 30-40 cents a pound, so hopefully it's
more then that now.
Anyhow, just curious if anyone knows of an online directory or listing
of either costs of aluminim now or what to search for in the phone
book. I looked up the obvious, recycling, aluminum, etc, but nothing.
I live in Waco, Texas if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks ..
Alex

Funny, I found several "recycling centers" in the online yellow pages.
Glidden, Lipschitz, Wise, a whole bunch more.
Call your local solid waste hauler or the City.

Funny now? I was looking in the phone book, not online, and in our
local phonebook these are listed under either scrap metal, waste
management, or the like, but not recycling or aluminum recycling, which
there are none.
Thank you for your time, and for answering my questions, but in
contacting these guys none take aluminum cans for recycling nor can
make any suggestions. These guys take large quantities of material
(construction sites, etc).
