Apparently, your municpal trash hauler will take aluminum cans in the
regular recycling bin (as of 8.1.2006). Sure, you're not going to get your
pennies for doing that, but they will be recycled.
If you don't drink much canned soda/beer, its not going to be worthwhile I
googled, and there seems to be about 30 cans per pound, so if you got that
30 cents per pound, that means one cent per can.
Now if you lived here in CT, you'd be paying a 5 cent deposit, which you
could get back when you schlep them back to the grocery store and stuff them
in the can crushing machines.
