A recent thread at mcf-l, "Frugal tip for ink jet printer owners,"
contained several posts pointing out that a particular Samsung laser
printer was nicely priced after the rebate.

Several listers said that they had not seen it advertised and wanted to
know more about it. This printer is pictured in the Staples flyer in
the Sunday, July 23,  Washington Post. It's the Samsung ML-2010. It
costs $129.98, and after the $80 rebate, the final cost is $49.98. The
Staples SKU is 608742. I don't know if this is an in-store only offer.
I also do not know if it comes with a standard size or a starter size
toner cartridge. Finally, I do not know how much replacement cartridges
cost or how easily they can be refilled.

The price is good through Saturday, July 29. Surely it will be
available at this price again. I do not work for Staples or own stock
in the company. I post only because others have asked about it.

Starter size, about 1/3rd full.  Don't worry about refills.  The replacement
cartridge should cost about ths same as the printer.  But, the replacement
should last the average home user about 3 years.  -Dave

And if it's like the ML 1740, it comes with linux CUPS support.

Just buy a second printer now to use when the first one goes dry.

Not frugal.  The printer ships with a full-size toner cartridge that is only
1/3rd filled with toner.  With the (on sale) printer being about the same
price as a new toner cartridge, you'll get 3X as much toner by buying the
replacement toner cartridge.  -Dave
