In an article (mistakenly referring to the WWW as "the Internet")
referencing a report compiled by Arbor Networks, the University of
Michigan and the nonprofit Merit Network assaying the continuing
concentration of traffic through a decreasing number of content
providers, is this quote from Vince Vittore of the Yankee Group, an
independent technology research group: "The consolidation of content
ownership among a relatively small group is the most striking finding.
It goes against the entire concept of what the Internet was going to be
— a wide-open landscape where anyone could be a content producer and
provider."
Well, damn, who'da thought it? Surprise, surprise, surprise!
Remember back in the dark ages when the geezers who were warning about
such an eventuality were being called everything but racists?
