Consumer's have more power than they know.

Please. Don't buy it today, buy tomorrow. And that is going to do what
exactly? If you think that daily revenue numbers make any difference to
the oil companies you need to have your head examined.

This is such a dumb plan. Not buying gas for "one day" would only
hurt if general consumption went down in general. That is, need
less...buy less. I've been practicing this credo since the "last" gas
crisis of the 70's. And BTW...buying a Prius is not frugal...but
finding a Festiva or Corolla in good shape and cheap, is. They both
get 40+ MPG. But if you must buy new...there are still non-hybrids
that get 37-40+ MPG and are about $10K less.

I have to agree with you that a Prius is not frugal by any means of the
word. $23,000 for a compact is just silly.

Plus they're pretty ugly to boot (unless you like that style I
guess). I still miss my Festiva and the Yaris I bought to replace it
hasn't quite won me over; sure...it's good on gas and sporty
looking....but the Festiva had storage room galore and could fit in
those parking spots others couldn't. Can't say the same for my
Yaris. Damn you Ford!! Don't you know I would have bought that Ka! if
you would have introduced it in the US?
