Few people realize that Google also gives you hundreds of cool ways to
organize and play with information. Google has added many new features
and services to its expanding universe: Google Earth, Google Talk,
Google Maps, Book Search, Video Search, Music Search, Google Base,
Google Reader, and Google Desktop among them.you will find that the
original Google has more interesting than to search functions, waiting
for you to use .

As it happens a business group that I belong to began utilizing the
google calendar feature today. Only people in the group can use it to
either see upcoming events or add events. It also has an option that
notifies you each time an event is added.

I just don't care for the idea of having my information in "the cloud"
as google and others are trying to push.

Damn! Now we'll have to find some other way to keep track of you.

I would never put my personal or business calendars online but in this
instance it is limited to functions relating to the group I belong to.
Since we already have each others contact details the calendar will
simply say (names of people) are meeting to discuss (topic) at (time and
place). It would be interesting to see an outsider try to identify us at
the lunch, dinner or whatever and then try to explain their uninvited
presence.
Oh, the calendar will also have such valuable private information as
the list of members speaking at upcoming meetings.
As I said, fine in this case but not in other instances.
Speaking of google a poster in another group has been trying to
hijack that group by flooding it with messages from his sock puppets.
Most of us are ignoring him so he started a google group on the same
topic as the group. He is bragging about how he "owns" the google group
and is bragging that we need his permission to join this group.
