Hi,

We are looking for a contractor to install a solar water heater, using
rebates from HECO, state and federal.  However the price is still high
enough for us  to  need to be careful in choosing the right
contractor.

If there are any homeowners out there who have had one installed,
please advise us :

(1)  how to avoid pitfalls, scams; what to look out for  (2) is yours
still working good (after how many years)  (3)  which contractor did
you use?  (4)  which brand is your solar panel  (5)what else did you
add to the package (e.g. attic fan)?
We would appreciate any advice and please reply urgently.

Thank you, aloha, maychoo

I don't normally recommend cross posting but in this case it is a very
good idea. alt.solar.thermal, in particular, is low traffic.

You'll probably want a flat plate type collector rather than an
evacuated tube. The higher costs of evacuated tubes aren't usually
justified in a moderate climate.
