Was;  Compassion for the Rich.
E.V. is when you took the teachings of the system too seriously. Hint
; it was a  joke.
Ya know.  Get a good job that pays a lot.  Buy stuff and by all means
keep up with the "jones".
Conspicuous consumption and all that , On Credit.  and the old belief
that has fallen on hard times..... Have a plan for retirement.
The Rich bought into all this and more.  They valued themselves on how
they
"looked" materially .  And now...... Well, It's just Karma.
Hey, the brighter side of this..   They may lose some extra pounds of
weight.

It's amazing what you can do. If...
you put your mind to it.

I have a lot of respect for _some_ rich people - usually the ones
who got there by being frugal. :)  Warren Buffett, for example, lives
in a house that's worth maybe $500K, or about 3-5 times as much as
mine - certainly a lot less than he could afford.

But most people I know who earn more than I do are jealous of me,
because although my multiple part-time jobs don't pay much at all,
they're insanely cool, and I'm doing them because I really _want_
to do them.

Follow your bliss.
then you won't have to "consume" to heal the wounds of doing a job you
hate.
